Candle Care

If you are new to wooden wick candles or want to make sure you are taking care of your candle than here are some tips to follow:

When lighting your candle for the first time, burn until the wax melts across the entire surface.  This may take up to 2 hours. Candles have a memory making the first burn set the tone for the rest of its life! Following this step will prevent "tunnelling" which can prevent the wick from getting enough oxygen making it hard to stay lit.

Trim your wick to 1/8" before every relight. You can do this by pinching off the burnt wooden bits with your fingers before lighting and only once the candle is cooled or with a wick trimmer.  Our candles come pre trimmed so they are ready to go!

Keep the candle out of direct sunlight.

Burn on a flat, heat resistant surface and never move once lit.

Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Try not to have your candle burn for longer than 4 hours. It is not good for the wax and will reduce the life of your candle.

It is time to replace your candle when there is only 1/2" of wax left in the container. Our containers are reusable so place your candle in the freezer, after 40 mins pop the wax out with a knife, wash with warm water and soap and voila! We'd love to hear how you're reusing your container!
